Good stuff Dave

You know the place i mean??

It is about 10km before the actual caves and caves camping ground. There is a weir there.
I am sure you can have fires but i am bringing the heater as well.

Will be in contact

bitch of a road???? I took a trip down to Wollundilli a year or so ago in my bus, which admittedly was low. It's a top spot by the clear water....but the road down was a nightmare. Took it slow, think about an hour and a half....had landcruisers backed up to Bowrel....don't imagine a regulation height bus would have any dramas, but there are some serious 'ruts' on the way down that hill, so if you're dragging yer arse, you're gonna have to be real careful. It is a great spot, and then on to the caves is not so hard, and a top day out, esp for the kids.

I'm interested...get the kids out...leave the missus with the new baby for a couple of days peace.

Is this the place...it has a wier, and the river is low and shallow....stuff all facilities though....but camp right on the river bank....the guy that runs it is mental as, so you'd need to call and get a reservation, we had one, but he was still bonkers....banjo country.....

Think this is the link

Yep.....thats him. and yes - that sounds the spot. Might ring and see what the go is these days.

Last time we went down the were a few "rowdies" from Mittagong.
Amazing how quiet you become when the care taker points a double barrel at you! :P

Last time i was there was in a Falcon wagon and wasnt too bad. Years ago a mate lost a Cortina over the side. Think it is still there

Pretty spot though.

Be great if you can come

Spent Australia Day Weekend there 2003.

Nut job lives in the tent/house thing.

Pretty good place to stay - the road is a bitch tho!

My Commonbore wasn't real low but was banging it's extractors all the way in..

Watch out for the roos at dusk and the snakes in the water! - No kidding!

Wonder if the little-un's could handle camping yet? It would be Jack's second birthday that week!

C'mon Matt - kids will love it!!

Agree with the water.
Last time we were there there were some Japanese/korean tourists wading through the water.

Whoa.....did they start screaming  All huddled together in the middle.

The horses are a pain too. They just wander straight through you campsite. Dont seem to care there is a tent there.

Don't go in via Mittagong, the road from Goulburn via Taralga. Much better. I took a lowered 67 in the Mittagong rd 5? years back. No adjusters in the front beam, thud thud thud, all the way. I've got a write up on it...

The will be no problem Matt :thumb All of ours went camping from 6 months on.

They're quick though, I remember once when I was pegging out the tent, put Jemma out the front and by the time I'd gone around and hamered in the four corner pegs and came back, she had already got stuck into the the sultanas......hang on, those aren't sultanas.....that's duck poo on the ground...DOH!!! :onn[ Edited on 16-9-2005 by KOM123 ]

The road from that side has eroded quite a bit too. Not sure if it is still better.

Bathurst was named after Lord Bathurst, the BRITISH Secretary of State for the Colonies.

My Mother in law's maiden name was Bathurst. She's descended from that line...I would have said she's fallen along way.

ah don't be wusses. My Crew Cab was running 205/50's and slammed. Still made it there and back. Yes it bottomed out a lot, and took a lot of driving in and out. Maybe a testiment to Indian engineering....I thought it would crap itself, but didn't, and didn't have to so squat to it after. I'm into the idea, I'll just being the microbus at it's sky high compaired, that what the grab handle is fer - Pete - bring the buggie - I'll cart ya gear....
