further progress on my '54
put a 4" narrowed beam in on thurs night with help from dragbug.

well, the beam was originally in a rag top owned by Tom Laube.
It still ran shock towers, and the body was modified to fit. the fuel tank was even clearanced.
It was a very neat job, and I had to have a second look to see that It wasn't factory.
Andrew Edwards bought the car from Tom with the beam in it, and decided he didn't like the way it drove and put a standard width adjustable beam in
it.
I got the beam from Andrew with the intent of putting it in my Oval.
I didn't want to modify the bodywork on the Oval at all, so it never got fitted.
Aaron wanted a narrow beam for a project, and I wanted a std. width adjustable beam, so I swapped him for a std beam, then got adjusters put in.
Aaron chopped the towers off to fit in his car, and I put the low beam in mine.
Aaron then sold his car, but the buyer wanted a std width beam in it.
So, we swapped back the beams, now I have the narrow beam back, and he has his beam back.
Everyone's happy.
The narrow beam doesn't sit quite so low though, so now I'll have to install the drop spindles I bought from C.B's.

that's right.
haven't driven it far yet. maybe about 10km.
needs a wheel alignment, it's getting one tomorrow.
I put some caster shims in, which make a difference to the previous beam.
ride quality wise, I haven't noticed any difference.
A little bit wandery, but that's probably more to do with the wheel alignment.
See what it's like after I put the spindles in too.

I Ran around with no shocks for ages.
Didnt bother me one bit.
For me it was better,
Due to it not having the up/down motion of normal shocks after you hit a bump.
Actually preferred it,now i think about it more.
Ya gotta remember that the torsion leafs take a lot of dampning away from the road first.

,uprated bug pack leaves,sway aways ,casters,anti bump steer joints ,kyb gas shocks,porsche 356A vented speedster drums all round ,125 x 15

took it for a blast up the freeway last night.
drove perfectly fine.
You just have to realise that you can't throw it into corners.
It feels better than having 40 year old shocks that don't work anymore.
Just need to get the spindles on to get the front down the rest of the way.

no prob.
One of the tie rod ends was being a b*tch, so we pulled it out and replaced it.
now it's been wheel aligned, it's sweet.
