Help Putting Starter Back! IN~
Can some 1 give me some tips on getting these suckers back in~
I can seem 2 line it up ok, I greased the shaft where the pinion slides onto and the hole in which the shaft fits into, but i just can not get it 2
click in all the way, r the coggs not lined up properly any help thanks~

Hi
The pinion gear wont touch the flywheel so that wont stop it going in, the gear actually is on Bendix drive that throws the gear forward to engage the
flywheel, is it the same starter, maybe your trying to fit 6 volt starter in a 12 volt hole, the 6 volt starter uses a larger shaft.

12 OR 6 HELP
yea well I got both bolts in but, yeah it was like about 3/4 inch still sticking out,I wiggled & jiggled & @#$%^&$#@~
its a 64 so I just thought it would be a 6v a Auto elec checked my old one out & said it was stuffed & said just get another so i havnt got the old
one 2 compare to it & cant see a 6v or 12v stamped on the starter~

Hi
The starter should have the voltage stamped on the casing, sounds like you have the wrong starter.

12volt~#@%$###^%^%$^
BANG~ THERE U GO my 64 beetles got a 12 volt STARTER~ i think the auto elec didnt give a #@#@! when he told me it was a 6~ Gary @ Wolfsburg kindly
swapped it over~ & shes in TRYN to turn over nicely~ sounds like new~ thanks all for your help~
