flat4 quick shift install?

is there a trick to getting these to go into reverse?
it slides fine into all gears except rev. it looks like that spring on the bolt on the side is supposed to lock out rev, but it looks to me that there is no room to adjust it

hey, its not too hard, the spring on the bolt there that prevents you from going into reverse accidentally. you just have to push left against it and back, you get the feel of it pretty quickly. You wind the bolt in or out to adjust the feel obviously. Cheers

hey jon, if i adjust it out a little (so the spring has more room to move) the bolt sits on an angle and wedges itself on the side when i try to push it accross. im fitting it to a superbug if that makes any differance

i havent fitted one of those but i fitted a trigger shifter in my bus, it says if you cant find reverse properly move the shifter over to the right then try again , even though you can get all the gears it still may not be in the correct spot . is worth a go

the space between reverse and second is really small, just pushed a bit harder when shifting. it probably still needs adjusting as it looks like it is stressing the mounts a little when i push it accross. but it will do till after the day of

the reverse is a bit annoying but you get used to it. when I had it, I never shifted into reverse accidentally

just curious how short a shift do you achieve with these cause it might be better for chaos is its about the same as he is now ie 2 inches between gears. but thats with a quick shift kit and a stock stick.

the flat4 one has a pretty nice shift, feels pretty solid, not as good as a berg but a fraction of the price. It's about a 40% reduction from stock, so its not ultra short but significantly shorter than stock. They are probably one of the better looking ones too :)

thanks john ill look in to one when i get around to it. the main idea i like about this one is the t handle can be replaced with a ball like the trigger shifter

Tried lifting up the handle, didnt work and that would be the only way to do it because it brings the ball on the bottom of of shifter down (like your pushing down on it).

The shift is heaps short, i love it. Which is why i didnt sell it, i was still hoping there was hope of getting it working. It shortens my current shift by like 80%, took some getting use to, kept hitting 4th instead of 2nd

Might have another go at it this weekend

Had another go with trying to install mine…no good, still cant find reverse with it.

Question: To find reverse with a normal shifter you need to push the shifter down left and back. With this shifter you can not push it down, is it still possible to find reverse gear without pushing it down?
