fitted floor mats for a beetle?
Is it possible to get fitted floor mats for a beetle? If so, where can I get them? My beetle's floor mats are worn out and don't fit well anyway.

iwent thru this agony 3 years ago. rubber floor mats OEM style are simply not available. I chose a fitted carpet set from vintage but found them poor
quality...shrinking away & curling up. I tried velkro to hold them down. My motor trimmer says that he can dp a better job by just making them to suit
my model. He operates in Desmond St Merrylalnds. Be aware that for nearly every year model the floor carpets are slightly different. The bloke on
Silver water road does a very rough (semi finished) type of mat which you have to finish off the fitting. He did a very poor job in my friends car (
covered up the heater outlets..He did not know what the holes were for!!!!) Good Luck. Baz:kiss

You can get them , just ask for the golf units . I'm pretty sure they fit perfectly too as I've put beetle floormats in Golfs . Also when you do get
some floor mats make sure the clips are the same . I know the clips in the floor have superceded 3 times since the first mk4 golf and you can only buy
the late oval clips

Clips? Heater holes? What are these things you mention??? The previous owner redid the interior... can anyone tell me more about the holes and
clips, like where they are for a start!

I dont ususally respond to techy thing, but did my carpets so will...
ok, as u know u can buy ur carpet peices. But did u also know its not that ahrd to do them urself, or to get them done at certain carpet places...
When I did mine, while buying them, the people I purchased from said if I wanted the pieces overlocked, to simply cut shape i needed and take back,
for a couple of dollars a piece they overlock, so it looks more professional.
The group is a small outlet, it does have large rolls and can order anything u want, but also has remenants too. My carpet is a pink mouldable one,
and it was so easy to work with.
But back to ur questions. The heater holes are along the floor sills, near the door. these are the outlets to allow warm air into the car. Carpet
has to be cut pretty precisely to fit these. If u go to ur car, u will se them, their pretty hard to miss, unless they have been covered up.
Also, around ur car, underneath the carpet are clips used to hold them in place. When ppl do the carpet themselves, alot just screw the carpet down.
Its easier. I did this to Edith, my daily...but have no intentions of doing it to elton. Reason for doing it to edith is, i need her on the road
asap. I can change things like stereo, wiring, lighting etc as i go along, and so I expect to be playing with carpet heaps more before im satisfied
with her...elton will be done very well from start to finish, and once completed, I hope to never get back under him again. He will be off road until
im happy.
so, clips go in (in particular) close to door sills (vertically) on inside, and a couple round the top of the carpet at very front (inside) of car.
i've seen clips on ebay once or twice, and i guess u can order them through the normal vw outlets. I know the carpet place i use (and will be using
for elton due to their great service) has them.
dubless.
And who the helled parked the Mitsubishi "Prancer" under my
house???

I was talking late model items . I've never seen floormats for early beetles . I use to just cut ones to shape on my old bug .

I've found a place that does them! (In America)
They even do mats with coloured trim, so I can get red trim to match my beetle!!!

Purple Martin,
just be careful with getting them from the states. You know, right side and left side driving and pedals etc.
