Stolen! Brown '71 Kombi

Heya all,
Someone stole my '71 Kombi this morning from Beach Pde, Broadbeach, Qld. Lisence plate 470 GPO, QLD. It's a brown pop top, 1600, with a surfer girl badge on the back and "campervan" writtin down the side. . It had hit a pole on the drivers side and was about to be towed away for restoration today! Timing. If anyone knows anything please let me know. Apparently it was towed by a white '98 commodore sedan at 5.00am this morning Fri 11/11/05. The male driver was about 6 ft with long brown hair. He had a girl with him apparently. It had been there for a few weeks so he might thought it was abandoned... but it wasn't.... :cry:vader

make sure youve reported it and checked the local council. at least hten if some oen is trying ot register their car after using bits form yours, then the engine number might come up and send a siren or two off.

sounds like some bastard has come along and thought thats been there a while. i will use it to fix mine. certainly not a lot of respect, is it? WNKRS! :grind:

hope ya find it mate.

Thanks for the eye's and ears dubbers. No, the surfboards were not in it luckily. I'm not too phased about pressing charges or anything if someone knows about it andd just want's to return it. No questions asked. As I said, it was crashed and needs some serious TLC to get back on the road.

I have posted your notice on an Aussie tow truckers forum, if the car turns up I will let you know...

ps, anyone that drags a car away at 5:00 o'clock in the morning knows full well it wasn't dumped....!!!

I hope the first people you told were the cops...

I'm looking too - Let the local workshops know about it (with photos as the rego plates are more than likely landfill by now) - the more people that know, the better.

I'll let all the delivery guys and gals at work know to keep an eye open for it (although more than half of them wouldn't know what a Kombi was if it ran over them :duh)

Keep us up to date!

Yep we were living in Kingscliff for a while so you would have seen the bus around there for sure slowbay. It wasn't the council who towed as they were the first people I contacted. So it was definitely someone who had scoped it for a while. The council had just put a yellow warning slip on it so it was probably presumed abandoned. It wasn't insured but I wish it was of course. It wasn't rolling and the steering column was almost on the front seat after the crash so I don't know how far they could have taken it... It owes me $3000. I reckon it's pretty close to Broadbeach still. Any way... some one scored. I hope it lives on. Maybe they'll fully restore it then I'll somehow get it back in mint condition. Or maybe I'll just have to get another one...

Thanks for the tips crew. I'll keep posting it and we'll see what comes up.

We did score heaps of good waves for a while there didn't we.... Missing the bus... missing waves like that! :smirk:

I don't condone what happened first of all. They could have left an offer letter under the wiper or something, even if it was a cheeky offer of towing it away for free.

I was just looking at our neighbourhood watch newsletter thing, and every couple of weeks dozens of cars get broken into, some stolen. They are always on the street. The safest place is off the street. Usually a lot of the brats that do car theft havent got the guts to walk 10 metres down your driveway to break into your car.

Just my thoughts anyway. Our cars are all going to be in a locked and alarmed garage so I will feel much happier.
