HI there Dubbers,

Stumbled across the forum this morning and after browsing your very informative Tech Talk section I figured siging up was a must.

I have a 76' Bug currently parked in my garage which promises to take up most of my spare time over the coming year or two. I purchased the car a year ago in Sydney with the intention of getting straight into a resto, however my family and I found ourselves having to move house a couple of times, so my project had to wait. Instead I spent the best part of a year exploring suppliers, reading my collection of "how to" manuals and dreaming of how my Bug will be :P

Today Im residing in the Illawarra after finally buying our first house and Im busting at the seams to get things underway.

I have never done a resto before and am hoping to learn as much as posssible about my car. Hence this forum is sure to be of help. Currently the car is 95% stripped and Im looking around for the right place to weld in my new floor. I have a largish hole under the drivers seat due to pooling water from a window seal leak and the left side isn't much better.

If anybody has any info on suppliers/repairers in the Illawarra it would be appreciated. I havn't been able to find a lot except for Wayne Penrose whom i'm told is a bit of a legend in these parts.

Anyway, I have rambled enough. You'll be sure to see me around here more than what you would consider to be a "normal" amount of time.:P

Cheers.

Welcome to the Forum. Wayne is a good start for sure for anything in that area. He gets on the forum too to showcase projects he's working on. Good luck with the resto!
