Front brake caliper

Anyone tried fitting SAAB 900 rear brake calipers to the front of their beetle?
Apparently the '85 to '87 models have the same mounting hole spacing but it is 12mm diameter where VW is 10mm. The pads are slightly larger so it should have increased stopping power. The SAAB has the handbrake on the front caliper.

Volvos, Porsches and Holden Astras (plus plenty of other Euro stuff) also have similar ATE callipers. Could be a good experiment
