Oh my god... i think i might still have one of these somewhere? It's is funny how many of the things on that list i can remember, and are sooooo true! I had like 5 different hypercolour shirts i got from Supre when i was little... and the funny thing is, i'm now working there! I lived in bike shorts and reebok sneakers, watched fresh prince of bell air after school (always sang the theme song), and collected snap bracelets!

Thanks foxy_fuschia, i've just had the biggest flash back of my life! That list is awesome and so true!

I hope i haven't bored you too much.

I started grade 1 in 1980, i remember when rap dancing started and films like Beat Street were on TV and I remember when The A Team's first show aired. Battlestar Galactica, oh help me I am still lost in the 80's. And I can still do the backspin and the worm, B Boys of today don't have %$#@ on me and now I am 31. I remember too many things off that list!

Definitely used to wake up soooo early on Sat mornings to watch cartoons on the Early Bird Show with Daryl Cotton and that little white fluffy duck (can't remember the name though, it had a cute 'lil voice!). Also rememember Agro's Cartoon Connection...
I had one of the first Cabbage Patch Kids (called Louise Effie. I still have it, though her hair is braided in tiny plaits!)
I used to roller skate too.... in primary school I was beating all the big guys in the speed skates.... tehehe
Odd socks were also in thanx to Punky Brewster!

Anyway, I hate the eighties. Such bad taste, and to see it all coming back in.... ewww!
And don't get me started on the music from then..... :puke

The eighties, a wonderous time filled with happy memories which make for wonderful drunken 'laugh till u wet ur pants' conversation and all round embarassment.

hmm, my sister lurved Punky Brewster... I always wondered why a young girl ended up living with a strange old man, maybe her odd socks and 'tude' were an indicator of something more sinister? :o
Oh and as for cabbage patch kids, well that was all part of the Brewster conspiracy, wherby some sick puppy wanted to mess with young minds in an effort to create a global mooning movement. :P
(Great fancy dress number for those a little more adventurous: couple of balls of wool and a permannet marker!). I am certain Punky and cabbage patch kids came from the same 'great' mind. Lets face it, they're weird!

Fraggle Rock rules!

Ninja turtles. Like many a good thing, marketing gurus bring things back from the dead in the effort to make some money. It is always inferior to the original and you feel ripped off.

They better not touch Mad Max, the goodies or prisoner, is all I can say.

I just wanted to punch Peewee herman back then, still do now! Retard

Yeehaa, rollerskating rink!.... funky orange wheeled, brown booted vessels of tinea! Nah nah, I got speedskates, so much cooler! Mum used to take us to the Carlingford skating rink, there are some songs which when I hear, brings back memories of that 'rink aroma' and all the funky flashing lights.

Yay maccas parties....... Is there no end to the scheming tactics of that lowlife clown when it comes to making a buck. Though happy toys, er I mean meals were yet to be marketed on a sinister level. I hate Maccas, my son now hates that I hate maccas, but thats because he is under the ad machines spell.. grrrr

Popples, puggles, the dark crystal, neverending story, labrynth, strange creatures influencing fertile minds. Muppets, webster, and that lovable arnold, so many kookie creatures created back then. Is it no wonder that drugs are getting more and more hard core as our culture looses the abundant 'fantasy' element, replaced by playstations, 'makeovers', infotainment and reality TV.

'Don't worry be happy' I just ate my scrunchy. 80's schmaties, Rainman just squeezed in! :D

Transformers more than meets the eye! My son(6) now loves transormers, he loves hanging with his 'uncle'(26) talking endlessly about them as his uncle has a nice collection. Funny thing is when he hangs with the boys (his uncles friends, all late 20's) I have to tell them to give his toys back. Fights all round, grrr!

"You used phrases like "not the momma" & again" to be annoying to your siblings after watching the Dinosaurs" still do at times, thanks for reminding me.

Gremlins... loved scaring lil sis with that one, wait till she would go to the oustside loo......... creep up behind and start scrating the back wall, making gremlin sounds..... ahhahahahaha,, pants down, runs screaming to mum!

Freakin Home and away.. who remembers Sally's 'imaginary' friend? Milko I think his name was. Oh and how she used to hang with Lance and Martin the trailer trash? Bwaahaahahaha Sally and her big boobies grew up to become the trailer trash Queen! God she was such a dork.

I hated ALF.. with a passion.. grrr

Yay.. Shot thru the heart and your to blame............his hair always reminded me of a shaggy dog. All those puffy heads,, grr shaggy dogs.. all of them. :puke

Call me non-conformist, but I NEVER thought mullets were cool, there is just something fundamentally wrong with them especially the permed or super frizzy ones. Cweepie.

Hey and who duzn't sing 'we are the world' when pissed. Oh and 'What about me' used to be another cool one till that knob spoilt it by dragging it back into the mainstream. Grrr, I thought young talent time was dead and burried.

MONKEY.. WHOOHOO.. loved that show, but thought pigsy was the most disgusting creature. They are all so ugly, except tripitaka :D Hands up who used to whistle at the clouds waving a broomstick in the air, hitting ur sibling over the head for fun?

Perms, like mullets freaked me out, there was something wrong with hair stylists back then, obviously the offending hallucigens have been banned from products this century. You can tell the hairdressers whom must be using up thier 'secret stash' of cheap 80's product, they're the ones in country towns and run down shopping centres near retirement villages. Usually there is a shed or industrial estate nearby.

The eighties were warped.

um, I really think that's more a CHild of 80's rather than babies of the 80's. Sadly, you seem to have homed in on most of stuff I hated about the 80's.

For instance,
the world would have been a much better place without...
Care bears
cabbage patch kids
full house
doogie houser
rainbow bright
home and away
and most of the other stuff you mentioned.

However,
at least you got BonJovi in.

But what about,
Def Leppard,
Twisted Sister
Guns n Roses
Technotronic
Knight rider (the car, not David Hassalhoff)
The A team
Monkey Magic
Ferris Bueler's day off
The breakfast club
Better off Dead
Blow waves
Duran duran
Early Metalica
80's Skating
Run DMC

That is just the highlights of some of the Good bits.

BTW, anyone remember watching Simon Townsend's wonder World, or Secret Valley?

And yes, I had a mullet at one time.

go secret valley........young kids on mini motor bikes, and that spider McGerk (i think).

As for maccas birthday partys, a mate had a similar phone number to the local maccas and he would occassionally get a wrong number
calling to make a booking for a kids b'day party.
Instead of informing them of their mistake he would take the booking.
Come the day we would go to said maccas and wittness the group of kids and agrivated parents wondering why their was no party.

So a big sorry to anyone who missed out on their b'day party at the jindalee maccas in brisbane.

Lee.
