have heard good things about them

Mate at work has the GTi version.
They are not represented in Australia anymore

But for the price you buy them for they are almost disposeable items.

How much and what model were you looking at??

The Cupra is the only one that goes. I had some dealing with them in the late 90s.

Never had the budget to market and sell in any quantity, and VW/Audi didn't help much as they were finding it hard enough to shift cars, so they often could not meet the price point of VW or other Euros like Pug. Basically good cars, but not a 'thunk' 'thunk' in build quality. The Cupra was a real pocket rocket. I had one for a while as a loner, it was heaps of fun, but didn't like slow traffic much making it hard to crawl. It also had massive torque steer, a bit like the old 1.9 Pug. This was kind of fun as you could back off when it started to loose it, then stamp on it again, and it jumped back in line. Lots of fun....but addictive and may well kill you.

The build quality was 'okay', but felt a bit flimsy. And this was a new one.

They are not a patch on the current Seats ... but I think that the then the importer at the time Inchcape, found it almost impossible to make money off them and ditched them.

I heared that they stopped importing largely due to in fighting about the effect that 'good Seats' would have on the rest of the Inchcape stable.....ah well...

Lot of fun as a sleeper for low bucks ... Defo drive a Cupra, they are fun.
