VW Campmobile Annex - Question

Hi all, I have a kombi annex and since I haven't really seen many others around I'm trying to figure out if it is likely to be an original VW kombi annex (if such a beast exists).

I can provide photos if anybody would like to see but it is blue and orange canvas with an orange rubber floor and snaps on to the side of my kombi (which has the campmobile sticker on the rear). There is a side door to the annex as well as a door that aligns with the sliding door of the kombi. The annex itself has a VW Campmobile stencil sprayed onto it. I don't know if this would have been a factory or after market job.

Does this description sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks,
Tay

The description sounds the same as others offered (here, ebay etc.) as factory kit, despite the rather amateurish stencils. Whether it was a VW part, delaer-supplied or aftermarkewt I can't confirm.

This page might help:

Thanks very much for that link, it was indeed helpful. A couple look similar but my poles all go on the inside of the tent. I'll keep digging around!

Good! I propose that you become the "tent/annexe authorisation guru" for the aussiekombicampers.com website. To that end, keep track of any useful links you find, any helpful authentication photos, markings etc., take photos of your annexe and we'll put it all together some time in the near future (for my sins, I'm the webmesiter of that site).

Thanks in anticipation,

on the topic, anyone else got an annex/tent that will set up in 30sec - 1min, has 3 walls (open on car side) and simply folds back onto roof when done or am i the only one? (probably the only one, but from memory it was made in clayton  )

Hey guys.. sorry to hijack, but on the subject of campers...

Modulus, you were asking about Buttercup's camper kit... whether it was a Sopru... I have reason to believe it may be a Trakka job... I put some pix of the interior fitout and open poptop up in the Member Rides post about Buttercup if you wanna check it out for the purposes of the AKC site... I'd be intereted to find out for certain the make of my conversion. :)

As I said... it sems to fit the desription and rather sketchy visual depiction of the Trakka one almost to the letter... :thumb

Unhijack... back to you guys

Hi Schmoburger,
I might have some other unpublished Trakka photos to compare with, so I'll have a look tonight to see if I can get a better guess at Buttercup...no manufacturers plates left, perchance...?

I think comparing yours with 'baybuscamperkid's' example, known to be a Trakka, that at least the camper roof is Trakka, based on:
a. the general shape and layout of the roof sections
b. the location relative to the 'b' pillar
c. the location relative to the vents
d. the cruciform supports and mechanism.

Here's the two best comparo photos:

So I guess I'll add it to the Trakka examples, unless baybuscamperkid can see some differences.

Hmm.. I think if nothing else, the roof is definitely Trakka... almost identical to Baybus camperkid's... and the description of the interior layout seems to suggest Trakka too... marine ply... bad fabric patterns and such :D

Buttercup has that zipdown flap on the front of the poptop too.

Your quite welcome to add her to the Aussie Kombie Camper site if you like... :thumb

Kombi Annexe

Heres a couple of pics of the annexe that came with my 74 Kombi. Don't think its genuine VW but seems to be made for the kombi.
