REVERSED COOLANT MANIFOLD EJ22
Ive seen that lots of people have reversed there coolant manifold. What benefits do you get? Is it worth doing? Ive had a look at mine on an EJ22 and
there appears to be two sensors going to the manifold and a small rubber pipe. If the manifold is reversed do you just have to lengthen all of these?
Also the two pipes that used to go to the heater matrix i was going to join together as i will not be havig a heater but with the manifold reversed
these will be no where near each other. Is there a good way to rectify this? By the way the engine is going in a Beetle.

its alot easier to route that 1/2 inch line for the heater across the engine, than routing the 1.25 or 1.5 inch pipe completely around the engine and
making a 130 degree angle to point towards the front of the car.
it also allows for a cleaner engine bay.

Hi Neggy,
the benefit is that the coolant manifold is going in the right direction (where the radiator is located).
You don´t have to lengthen the wires for the sensors, but the hose got to be replaced by a longer one. You have to get the wires out of the harness
under the intake manifold and get them where you want them.
I did that with my engine (ej 22) in my beetle.

here is how i did mine. I just cut off the end, and welded a bead on it. has worked perfect so far.

Hi Jorg, Ive just had a look atyour previous post, that looks like one neat install!!! Did you join the heater matrix pipes together? Can i also ask
what you cleaned your engine with as im worried about getting water in the engine? What radiator is that that you have used?

Hi Neggy,
i used gasoline and a brush for cleaning the engine (to get rid of the wax), my radiator is of a rabbit (Golf) Gti but it does not fit into the spare
wheel well without some cutting and extending it. The smaller radiator of a 75 HP rabbit (Golf) fits in right away. It is big enough for the subaru
engine, i took a Gti model , because i started my conversion with a Gti engine. And yes, the heater pipes are connected.

for a reversed coolant manifold that has the heater connection on the same side as stock take a look here:

I don´t know where you are located, it is in GB. Maybe that is to far away for you.

Thanks for the help!! I am now definitely going down this route. Ive had a look at that website Jorg and i think im going to copy the heater
connection as i work in a machine shop. Ill get this bit done and then ill probably have some more questions about the other pipes on the engine.
