What Kombi box
Hi, I'm looking at a Kombi box that is for sale but I'm unsure on what model it came out of and if it is sutable for a Subaru or V6 conversion,
strength wise.
Does anyone know if you can work out what the box is out of from the Model or serial No's?
It's from an IRS if it helps the model No is :002 301 103A
Serial No is :CA 043 5728

Sounds like a 1600 Kombi box to me.....
It should have three ribs going around it

Yes it does have 3 rings. Do you know if they are a strong box or should I be looking for somthing else.

Probably not very practical for what you want. The diff will be 5.37:1 which is ok for a Baja Bug or Baja Bus with big tyres, but in a street car it
will be revving too high on the highway.
Better off looking for an 1800 (5 rib) or 2L (6 rib)
1800 part No. is still 002 but it has the 5 ribs
2L part No. is 091 and has 6 ribs

Definitley go the 2litre 091 box for a torquey motor conversion.

Thanks for the replies, it will be going into a baja bug with big tyres. But it might be worth looking around abit more for a five or six rib.
The box is in good nick and he only wants around $150 but I'm not sure if this is cheap or not.

A 002 1600 box is a waste of time, you'll have to rev it up way too high on the freeway, and they are not all that strong. I have a 002 1800 box in
my buggy, it does 3100revs at 110km/h on the freeway. That's not too bad and I haven't got near hurting it with an EJ25 NA motor, but an 091 2l box
would be better and stronger too.
