Questions on mods


I have my first 63 beetle stripped down to shell, engine out, awaiting funds for respray.

I want lower her and put twin carbs on the 1200 engine,

Any recommendations? the best way to go about things

Any problem you've had??? Etc

dasdubber, and vwma editor mite be good sources for you, das did a HUGE build of a 63 on here, 1000's of pics, lotsa info good stuff, and i seem 2 remember craig (VWMA editor) meentioning something in the mag about his attempts at a go fast smaller engine, as opposed to a 1600tp or 2L t4 as a base

Hi rebuildone - welcome to the forum. If you have any specific questions by all means ask away. Twin carbs although have been done to 1200s (and even 36hp ala okrasa kits), you may question the cost effectiveness/benefit of doing so unless you are trying to go "retro performance" as a style.

There was a thread here about doing something similar to a 40hp engine so maybe do a bit of a search/read through the old posts as a starting point...if you can't find what you are after then post again.
