How do I find the build date of my engine?

I need the correct engine for my '54 oval. I have two engines and I'll post the numbers shortly.

In the mean time does anyone know anywhere in Australia where these records are kept? Are there any books or websites or perhaps bofins who can help?

Thanks Astro

The engine's turned out to be '59 and '60. Bugger.

I'll also check the chassis number and figure out what the paint colour is.
