Gear hunting
I have a 2000 Passat 20V tiptronic. When coasting at around 60km/h and under slight load (ie going up a small hill), the transmission is hunting
between gears. I noticed a dint in the transmission pan, which may be affecting the transmission fluid, so I might get it fixed, but was wondering if
anyone else has experienced something similar? Thanks

Your best bet is to take it somewhere with a diagnostic machine (doesnt have to be a dealer) as i have seen these boxes play up in the electronic side
and it only takes 10 min to check for fault codes. Wouldnt be a bad idea to get the sump straightened out and get the filter and oil changed while
they are in there. Make sure the correct VW spec trans oil gets used.

Hunting between gears usually gives no fault codes . Its probably low on transmission fluid . Im not going to go into depths on how to check the level
cause its not easy ! . Get the level checked BEFORE you do a trans service . Out of interest how many k's on the car ?
