ah yes, they do almost.
In the small hours of the morning, near legendary fish and chips at waterfall, the modified accelerator lineage fell of my old bus. naturally it
stopped and wouldn't go any further. looking around we spotted a motorcyclist who had also broken down. he had the spanner i needed to reattach the
lineage, but no one had the chain he needed to replace so we threw the bike in the back and gave him a lift to red barron at sutho where he was happy
to sleep a couple of hours till they opened. The sliding door didn’t quite shut but the boys in blue who happened to arrive just as we were driving
off weren’t too fussed once the explanation was given.

haha. that proves it... you ARE "chewy" off DBW. good taste: dirtbikes and VWs.
you just gave me an idea that i could get rid of the ute. cycled over to the bro's and measured up the diagonal leangth of his bay from rh wheel
arch to front of sliding door.. yay there enough on the diagonal for my bike but i forgot to measure the door height. doh.. (blame the beer).
I need 1300mm (have handlebar raisers). could get away with a bit smaller if i tie the front suspension down on a chock so maybe 1200mm???
so whats the height of a bay sliding door opening?????

Hey Helterskelter!
The door opening is about 1250mm from memory, my handles bars are 1200mm high, but the beauty of it is that the bikes on an angle going in so theres
plenty of room between the bars/door opening. I had the pop-top up when I did this, would be a bit harder with a solid roof kombi.
Its actually very easy to get the bike in and out, but thats with my light bike dont know about an XR400. The bike stays upright by itself when its in
so would be easy to climb about tieing it down properly.
PLanning on making some anchors from the rear seatbelt points for the tie downs.
Cheers

cool.
i will work on the bro next weekend to take out his seat, pop the top and wheel the bike up for a test. seeing that pic means i just HAVE to
try....
i was looking at a lwb japo van to carry the bike as replacment for the ute but the idea of a kombi is just that little bit bit more appealing...
haha.

Go the kombi for sure :thumb
It will work, an XR400 has a shorter wheelbase than my bike and mine fits in with a bit to spare. Just a bit more effort to put in than a rear end
loading van but worth it to have a kombi!
I dont think my bus is ever gonna have a rear seat again!
Cheers

I put an XL185 in my Baja. I took out the passenger seat, and slide the forks out of the triple clamps on the bike.
Threw the front wheel and forks on the back seat, and chucked the rest of the bike in where the passenger seat was.
I got some odd looks in traffic. I should have taken a photo.

Bikes in kombis
I have had a few bikes in my old kombi before.
KTM lc4 600 just fitted. My Montessa trials bike never had a problem. Even rode though it as it was a twin slider. LOL
