External Oil Cooler on 010 Kombi auto - how?

I am running an 010 auto in my kombi, and would like to put an external oil cooler on it.

I know a couple of the bugy boys have done this, and the T3 auto vans had basically the same box with an external cooler.

I have been told i simply need to drill into the right oil gallerys and tap into them. Is this correct? does anyone have a photo that shows where they are? or other helpful info?

Cheers :thumb

Dont do it, you will lose line pressures and the transmission will not shift properly. It will do more harm than good.

Have a look at the buggy with a cooler and put yours into the same galleries. There are 6 test connection points on the drivers side of the trans, and I am hoping that I can use 2 for my cooler.I will get the Trans bloke to work out where to hook my cooler in when he overhauls it.If stuck, you could chat to a trans bloke.

Thank you for the comments guys. Urban, I am aware of other people successfully doing this, so there must be a way. I would like to look at one of the ones already done (and talk to the person who did it too) but unfortunately we are a bit detached from the rest of the dub community over in WA.

Any more ideas? What about sticking the late externally cooled T3 auto in a bay. Has anybody done this before?
