split disc brakes
hi all, i have a 1966 splitscreen which needs some front brakes. it currently has a disc conversion but has had the caliper carriers welded to the
spindles which is not acceptable. i think it is the original beam which has been lowered with adjusters. so i am looking for a disc set up to go onto
my king and link beam on standard spindles which will accomadate my 5 x 112 pdc 15" rims. i am currently waiting on some conversion kit prices to
come back to me, but would just like to know what are you all running on your splits. what is best, what to steer clear of etc where did you get yours
kits from? cheers, dave.

G'day 66split,
Is your Kombi standard height, lowered or raised?
Simplest solution allround, IMO, is to fit a '68-'69 bj beam and fit '71 up spindles and discs, also brake booster and master cylinder and
proportioning valve (for rear brakes) from donor vehicle. No dramas with Engineers, roadworthies, etc.

hi, thanks for your reply. my van has been lowered with adjusters on the beam, so was hoping to just replace the spindles at this stage. have looked
into a 68 beam but apparantly this would raise the ride height on a split so would need more lowering, havnt ruled it out though. cheers, dave.

Take the spindles to a M/c shop and get them to machine up some bolt on brackets that put the calipers in the same spot as the weld on ones. That
should be legal. Speak to an engineer first, as if you are doing it from scratch.
