Kombi Push Rod seals (1972)
Hi Alll,
It seems the seals at the end of the the push rods (on the bottom left hand sid of the engine when looking from the back) are leaking oil badly. To
the side of this is a case that is held by a wire brace that i think houses the tappets. Is it possible to replace the push rod seals via that
side.... and is this a job 3 savvy hillbillies could undertake???
thanks for your help

Is it a Type IV motor? If it is, you can flip the wire brace off, take off the rocker cover, remove the rockers (be careful with the thin bent wire
in there and make sure you can remember how it goes back in). Then you can slide the pushrod tube away from the case and out through the head. Only
use your fingers to move the tube, pliers will crush it because it is very thin. Replace the seals and put it back. Don't use gasket goo on
anything, just smear with oil.
