Type 3 Ghia Standard Rims Wanted
Hi All,
I need 2 of these.
For those that don't know what those strange wheels sitting under their house are for, this may be them. They are 15 inch by 4 inch and have slots
between the inner and outer rim sections similar to a Split Kombi Rim. The other point of difference is they take a flat early Type 3 hubcap, that is
no clips unlike an early Beetle or Kombi.
If you have any wheels fitting this description please let me know.
Cheers,
Calcool

Type 3 Ghia Wheels Wanted
The Wheels VolksFolks have are not correct for what I need so I am still on the look.
EMPI aka Ravi Shankar, I was unaware that these wheels came on 62-63 Typre 3"s and Panel Vans. If this is true my chances have just improved.
Cheers,
David

Imagine an early slotted splitty rim but without the hubcap clips. My nephew's early 63 Notch has a complete set...including the rare flat hubcaps.

Here you go Calkool this might help. Info on wheel types for t34's off the Type 34 website.
Looks like T34 wheels are the same as the rest of the Type 3 range for a particular year.
"Almost everything on a Type 34 is unique (and obsolete), it might come as a surprise (albeit a pleasant one) that the rims are common to all Type
III's. However, as with many seemingly changeless parts, VW decided to alter the rims from year to year, most likely to increased safety. For those
of your interested in "purely authentic" parts for your cars, here's a list of the specific rim part numbers with pictures to show you the
differences between them.
From 0 000 269 thru 0 268 999 (Jan '61 thru October '63), basically all the 1962s, 1963s, and the early 1964s, the rims were 5-lug with four wide
slots. They were fitted with a chrome hub cap (#131 601 151) and were without beauty trim rings. The part # for these rims is 311 601 025.
From 0 269 000 thru 345 220 883 (Nov '63 thru July '65) basically most 1964s and all 1965s, the rims were still 5-lug but were solid inner sections,
without slots. They were fitted with the same hub cap (#131 601 151) but has special slotted beauty trim rings (#341 601 155A). The slots in these
beauty rings were thing (relative to later years). The part # for these rims is 311 601 155A.
From 346 000 001 thru the end of the Type 34 production, all cars from 1966 thru 1969, the rims were changed to a 4-lug, were slotted, and were fitted
with different beauty trim rings (#311 601 155) & hub caps. The hub caps (#311 601 151 B) were unique to the 1966 cars and early 1967s (thru 347 139
332).
In January 1967, beginning with chassis #347 139 333, the hub caps were changed again, (part # 311 601 151 D) and were fitted to all models thru the
end of production in July 1969.
The colors of the wheel disks (inner rounded part) & rims (outer part nearest to rubber tire) were:
1962 - all rims were Black, but wheel disks were Pearl White (except for Sea Blue & Pacific cars which had Blue White disks)
1963 - 1969 - all had solid Black rims & wheel disks."

I think the rims I had for sale mybe the 64-65 ones... will these suit your purposes? what is the spaceing between the studs on the ones you
require?... the spacing from studhole to studhole on these is approx 102mm.
I'll post some pix up in a bit... I thought they were for a splitty, but I may be mistaken, I'm almost certain they are VW tho... I was told thewy
were, an they look VW to me... just not sure what type...
As I said tho, the bear a strong likeness to the 64 ghia rims in the diagram above.
Cheers!

Type 3 Hia Rims
Thanks Schmoburger,
The rims I am after are the 62-63 versions.
The splitty ones look similar and come in 14 and 15 inch diameter but do not take the flat type 3 hubcap. They are the big 5 lug.
If you can post pics that would decide it.
Thanks again,
David
