rust repair: grafting body metal
Just looking at how much it's going to cost to get the repair sections for my '54 bug and started thinging about the shell I've got in the
driveway. It's a '74 standard and I'm wondering if things like heater channels and firewalls (sections forward and after doors) can be cut out of a
later model car and used on something as early as a '54?
I'm assuming the guage of metal is different and think I can remember this being a bit of a no-no?

Ok but could you cut out templates and use relatively flat sections?

In my experience, if a sill has rust anywhere, it has rust everywhere. Try and get some complete sills from a rust-free 50s/60s car; or new
replacement sills. Is it a resto?

Mark you're a legend. I'll probably take the heater channels but I'll suss it out properly and then get back to you.
