What does it mean?

What is the meaning of the hand sign, where the back of the hand is faced to the observer, the little finger and thumb are pointed out sideways, while the middle three fingers are folded in to the palm and the forearm is held vertically?

When done beside the head it used to mean, "You are wanted on the telephone." Now it has a new meaning. What is it?

In the uk and europe in the early 90'S there was a company called "no worries" that was vw based, they used that sign as there logo by gettign the vw badge and removing the bottom w and replacing it with the hand.

It very quickly became the sign people used to do to each other ad the drove past and waved. It didnt take long to sperd over the whole of europe(started in the uk) and still is used a fair bit today even tho the company closed its doors.

It probley means other things now but to me thats its meaning

I think the person who does these hand "signals" is just letting everyone know they are spastic...

Thanks. I assume from what you have said that the sign is not offensive. Good.

agrees with Steph ... it was the no-worries logo ... I think the guy that rang no-worries (and I could be wrong, it's just what I heard, so take it as an urban myth) ... organised some massive VW show in the UK on the mid-90's, the size of Bug Jam ie thousands of people, then promptly buggered off with the booty and paid no one for anything ... might be why they aint around anymore.

It was a very popular sign, as long as you waggled it ... but if not it just meant you were at an Ozzy Ozbourne gig ... let's go crazy...
