we just bought a 2000 beetle and having problems with the central locking on the car key having VERY limited operating range, are the batteries
replaceable in the remote's ??? as i popped the key transponder unit apart and the key seperates away from the transmitter but cant see where the
battery is replaced,
are they like a holden commodore key?, when the transmitter goes flat you have to buy a whole new key
need help!!

depends on the unit i guess. Jaycar sell a universal central locking transmitter.... Just reads your keys output and mimicks it.... just like getting
a new remote.

The range on them is very short. I replaced mine thinking it was going flat and it didn't improve at all.
What you need to do is grab either end of the black plastic parts of the key and pull them apart, you will see the join in it, that is where it
separates. They can be tough so you have to pull hard. That will then show the battery for you.
