gearbox oil....how many litres?

ok i just drained my gearbox.......was about 1.5 litres in there according to the measurements in the drip tray.

i just put 2 litres of synthetic oil in there.......its not up to the filler plug.

how much does the box hold?

its an old swinger bug box.

What ^^ said. don't fill it too quicky though. it could over flow giving the impression that it's full, when really, it's just flowing slowly. Manuals say to fill it with the axels loaded too so you'll get the correct amount in there.. or maybe have the rear axels loaded when you're draining it to get rid of as much dirty oil as possible..

...and Robert's ya father's brother...
