Helbus goes drag racing

Drag racing on Saturday at Heathcote Raceway. I had three runs, then Fleur got in the bus and just kept ripping her time down the quarter mile quicker and quicker until she got consistent 18.03, 18.07, 18.02 etc. So with a dial in time of 18.00 Fleur made it to the final drag race of the womens DYOB.

It was then she got excited and put down a 17.83 at 75.5 mph in the HELBUS.

She broke out, so no win, but what an awesome time. She ended up with a runnerup trophy for her effort on her first outing at the drags.

Lets just say I was eliminated first run in the DYOB.

Fleur was cutting sick. With a cool track. (It was 32 degrees at the time of her race) and taking the bullbar off and the middle seat out, and a better reaction time, we are hoping for a best of maybe 17.4

Awesome bus that one. That was a Hellbus with two 'L's I think. Turbo cahrged too.

Our poor bus has a stock motor with no turbo. - A stock 2.2 Suby that is :)

Well done on giving it a go.

Are you going to bring the bus out to play again? It doesn't matter about the speed, I love watching VWs at drag events.

Let us know in advance if you do.

Cheers,

James C.

That's so cool... so when Fleur cut under 18 secs, was that without the bullbar and middle seat?

Full trim, nothing taken off at all.

With a bit of weight saving, and a couple of other tricks, we may see under 17.5.

When we go again I will post on here, so if anyone wants to come along they can.
