kombi rear disc brakes
Looking at disc brakes for the rear of my kombi...i'm not interested in $1000 kits...does anybody know of a standard rotor(non ventilated) which
measures 25mm from the hub face to c/line of the rotor thickness? or a site which has these specs?...i love these problems don't you?

Go to the wreckers and pull the rear discs, calipers and caliper mounts off an EA Falcon. (yes the caliper mounts bolt on) Last lot of these I got I
paid $50 for everything and they had brand new pads the previous owner had just fitted before running up the bum of another car.
These are easily adapted to a kombi rear. Similar to what is done to fir them to a beetle.
Even with a bit of machining it would work out under $200. Just make sure you get a set of calipers that look good don't need to be rebuilt. There's
heaps of EA's in the wreckers so look around.

Yeah right mine only cost around $400 (EA ) with new hoses and pads]

That's a good price but I don't want to see rocknrob misled. I've 'read between the lines' but if someone is on here asking fundmentally simple
questions about disc dimensions methinks he ain't no machinist (no offence rocknrob!)
My (new) EA pads cost $90, quality DBA rotors around $200 pair. New wheel studs/nuts are around $100... restudding and hub modification machining:
$250. All to fit $50 EA/EB callipers to a Beetle!
The Kombi rear disc conversion may be easier than Beetle (no 4>5 machining; other dimensions may be a closer match) but these are the processes and
costs that must be considered

No offence taken Vwcool and no i'm not a machinist but i am an engineer and have drawn up exactly what i need in autocad...i was only looking for
information about what is available. Good luck with your kits but i think the word is out...you don't need to spend $1000 for rear disc
brakes...especially with the VW d.i.y. mentality
