the Rally is the 50th anniversary of the 1956 ampol trial. the Oval you saw was one I built to compeat in. It fits into the under 1500 modified class. At the moment I'm in 15th place I think. There are three other VW compeating Barry Ferguson and John watt from QLD and a type 3 karman ghia. Barry is in 10 place at the moment. we are in toowoomba to night heading back down south over the next week. all up there are about 64 car's.

Hi

If Barry Ferguson is running his blue bug, thats his 1967 beetle that used rallied in the old days and won just about everything. I had a hand in rebuilding that car for the 1st Variety Club Bash in the mid 80s. Barry is great bloke and a fantastic driver.

John Watt used to run a 1303 sports sedan when he lived in Sydney, parts of it are in Big Rudis car now.

I believe john watt was out for a bit after a carby fire, took him a few days to get going again as they came out of sydney, but he caught up again up at noosa. Wasn't barry meant to run a BDA escort originally?

Talking to Rhett (PHAT BUG) tonight and he was talking to Mick a couple of days ago, they were in 9th overall and the Oval was going great, they had just done Mt Panorama (Bathurst) and apparently will be in Echuca (Vic) tomorrow.
Cheers.
