would this style lights be legal?


Its a far cry, But this bug eyed kit i got, it has clear lights mounted on the fenders, with spotties mounted in the middle.

Now, they say the lights of the bug eyes them selves is illegal as they are too close. Having this other lights on the outside fenders, does this make it legal and compliant?

Would i have to wire it to the headlight switch to make it compliant?

that clear light isn't for indicators, i took off the idicator on that fender just to tinker with.

It had orange indicators, along WITH that clear light.

The low beam/main have to be at least 600mm apart (measured from centres). It looks like in that version, they might be. If not, mount some high/lows as your main lights on the bumper and use the bugeye ones as spotties.

those to main lights in the nose are 64.5 cm apart from their centres. does that mean i don't have to bother about finding other lights to put in of greater distance apart?

If so, turn on the funky music and boogie!!!

bajachris. There is a possible problem. The ADRs do not permit bonnet pins as they can injure pedestrians whom you may hit. Keep that in mind.

This is quiet a great turn out. No more kit playing, cutting, modding, mixing crap to make legal etc....

Its all just a good body tidy up now. sanding, rust fixing, respraying....

:cry The long job...

by the way, whats those bonnet pins for? they go down into the bonnet some distance, not too much, but hang loosely and wobble. :S
The bonnet is suppose to be mounted and held down with that latch in the centre. Has a bar running across (which i still need to pick up from the guy) that it holds on to.)

i think they are just lows, nothing more. not sure if they have hi beam too.

anyways, how do u tell.
is hi beam got 2 bulbs?

Hi and Low beam will have three terminals on the back of the reflector (Assuming it's a sealed beam).

Hi/Lo Beams have 3 connectors on the Bulbs or sealed beams... One for Hi, one for Lo & one for earth....

These kits are legal in the US....
Haven't seen one on the road in Australia....

Bonnet pins illegal....???

So... Thats why bonnets fly up in V8 & Auistralian rally championships... etc....

I did a bit of Rallying years ago and You had to have two locking devices on the bonnet..... regulations...

The bonnet pins were usually the 2nd set.....
Guaranteed, the bonnet won't fly up....

If they were just High or Just Low they would have two
connectors only...

guess what fellas, i'm dancing on sunshine.

Read a document (thanks to bajawes) in reference to some more ADRs, but refering to trucks. (u would think same rules apply to trucks as to most automotives), but, my headlights are 64cm apart, centre to centre, AND the beams are both LOW AND HIGH!!! ROCK SOLID!!!

no more legal issues, WAHOO! (yet...) But the headlights, are A oK. Plugged it up to a moto battery to check it out. wicked.

now just a matter of tidying up, finding a gearbox, an engine, few other nick nacks... etc. etc. :lol:

success and progress is such a great motivation! :tu:
