when it comes to installing kombi box into T1 chassis...
i hear of kits u need to fit em in.
They completely necessary?
anyone ever fit on in without a kit? anyone made something to fit it without paying another $400 and something from COR?
anyone did the whole caboolie with modifiying the axels (kombi end, and beetle end?)
Is there an easier way? can the whole rear tranny with the axels and all fit onto the T1 rear?

You're gonna need a kit Chris, but if you're going to run a standard motor just use a beetle box. I ran a standard superbug box and 1600 tp with
31" tyres for years up the beaches, in the bush and as a daily driver with no dramas regarding gearing.

great!
Cheers sandy,
just making sure. have been talking to a few people, and they said just stick with a single plated IRS bug box, cheaper too.

Chris dont use a single side plate box if it has standard ratio's as it is geared to tall in all gears ,so much so that with 31" tyres you can not
use top gear below 90kph and it will be burning up clutchs at a great rate.
If you intend to use the car offroad 1st is very tall and hard to take off with on steep inclines.
I would recomend a irs box with a 4.25/1 diff or a 4.4/1 diff ,and befor you ask no i dont know what year models they came from but mabey give IICAB a
U2U with this question as he works on gearboxs everyday. Andrew

By the way back on your original subject you can fabricate your own conversion kit with the only tools required is a welder and an electric drill and
if you ask nicely borrow my kit to copy (axles only need to be turned down on a lathe ,NO bigy)
