Rumour has it that tyre and wheel places can change stud patterns on ur rims...?
I got some BIIIG 31'' offroad 5 stud wheels. BIIIIGGGG! ones compared to the stock 4 stud i got.
apparently some tyre and wheel mobs, (heard this as a rumour from some vw mates), can cut up the 4 stud rims, cut off the 5 stud pattern, and reweld
the pattern into the while 31'' wheel.
Is this tru?
Are the wheels still sturdy?
Did u pay an arm and a leg for it though?

This can be done if the wheels are steel, Chris, but is expensive if you want it done properly. I can ask a mate for you if you like and he can get
you a price, but make sure you're sitting down when I call you back. If they're close not wide 5 stud, you can have them filled and re-drilled to
the 4 stud pattern much cheaper. Again, it needs to be done properly, but would cost a lot less than cutting and replacing the centres.
A POSSE AD ESSE.

yeah.
am just wondering thats all. probably be in time though.
a basic price range is all i need.
had a look though. There is no metal in the centre of the 5 stud wheels, and the 4 stud looks like it has a smaller diameter than the centre of the 5
stud.
will ahve to get pics.
Hold up till then.
Hows ur sabre running Mick?

Post a pic close-up of both wheels so I can show it to my engineering mate. If your BIIIG 31'' offroad 5 stud wheels are to suit a VW, I'd think
about selling them and buying a set of 6 stud 4by wheels to have filled and drilled.
Sabre is awesome.
Wanna know a secret?
I've just found a Sabre MKI that I'm negotiating to buy as well!
OMFG I love my life!

Chris,
Get your quote, but just FYI I think it will probably be pretty close to get the wheels actually made - pretty sure Terry at Custom Offroad does them,
I know a place in PErth that quoted me $250 a wheel for 15 x 7" or 15 x 8" with either of 4 or 5 stud patterns.

dont think wilson wheel works exist anymore and i dont think terry works at custom either anymore.
$250 a wheel sounded about right if steel.
dont know what tyres you going to put on? intending to fit them under the rear fenders? lol

31 x 10.5 R15 fits under most baja rear guards, but its usually best if the rear is turned up a half a spline or so to stop them rubbing on the
bounce.
That is what I had on the rear in my 57 baja in the photo below (this is before the rer is turned up half a spline - note not a lot of room - rubbed
like a b$%^h on bumps until it was lifted).
And yes, it was a baja before I got it.
