Rear Guards

I'm in the process of fitting blade bumpers on the rear of my 68 which had American style bumpers originally. Does anyone know if the cutouts on the rear guards are in the correct position, "height" to slot in the bumper brackets or do I need to change rear guards to smaller cutouts and different position. My problem is that my W deck lid hits the bumper not allowing me to open it when I have the bumper fitted in what I think is the correct possy. Your help is ap;preciated.

You may need to step the bumper bracket down so the blade clears the W lid, or fit pre '67 rear gaurds so the slots are lower then step the brackets inside the guards.

Thanx Dessert Bug. Was hoping the solution would be that simple so now I've got to find some good pre 67 guards if anyone has got a matching pair.
