Who uses a short shifter kit in their G/lever
These were very popular back in the 60s & 70s....
called Quick Shifter conversions....
they are very inexpensive and very easy to fit....
and they cut down the distance You move the gearlever by about 50%...
They should be fitted by someone who has taken out a VW g/lever and replaced it.. [ and it worked OK.]
as they can be tricky with reverse.. and the gears need to be evenly spaced.....
A great invention.... but I haven't heard anyone mention them for a long time....
Lee
PS... I don't recommend them for autostick VWs....

Hi
They are great, just dont shift too fast or you might break something.
I had one in my old 1302 along with a Type 3 gear stick. The guy who bought my bug sold his 911 to buy it, he couldnt believe how nice my bug shifted
compared to his 911, it must have been an early 911 with the 915 box.
I have a Scat shifter in my 1300, Im going to ditch the tee bar and make it taller.

im not real crash hot on the ones with reverse lock out triggers and buttons
had problems with them before
alot of those aftermarket T shifters are built for LHD cars and have the lock out button on the wrong side
the stock shifter with a quickshit kit and a nice gear knob work well i find

The Berg shifter in the bus is designed for a RHD vehicle. I thought a bit funny about the T bar at first, but it actually works well, especially
since the stirring pot is gone.
Bottom LH coner of this pic.

Yes Scarlet,
do the cheaper and easier things, which will need doing anyway... even after gearbox repairs...
the crunching etc can disappear with new bush etc...
and adjustment of the shifter itself....
