Damn Clutch!!!

Just knocked off from a bugger of a day at work and started driving home in peak hour traffic when...oh dear...that is an awful lot of freeplay...oh crappy poohs!!!:o Thankfully, in second gear I manage to pull over and mount the kerb to get under the car (teach me for lowering the thing in the first place!!!). 45 minutes later I have adjusted my clutch and done what I was supposed to have done on my day off on Tuesday. Dammit. That will teach me to put off doing basic maintenance.:cussing Hopefully, the backing nut was just loose cos if the thread is worn out, Sunday isn't looking to much fun.:cry

heheh...I thought about calling the RACV for a minute or two but as my mobile phone died on me (which I subsequently smashed and burnt just to make sure it was really dead and not just giving me the s**ts!!!) Thought it better to fix the car myself rather than wait around for a couple of hours. Yippee!!:bounce

Look on the bright side -at least you could adjust it, not like when it falls flat to the floor and not want to come up again!!!

If that nut backed off during the day whilst you were at work, look on the real bright side! Next time the cable will break so change it before that happens!

I'm really glad the nut was actually still attached to the thread!!! Methinks I am going to drive like a grandma for a coupla days just until I get a chance to look at it further with some daylight!! Looks like the thread tapping kit I brought a couple of months ago is going to be real handy!!
