battery
hi guys ,i have a bettle baja, is there a way to let your battery breathe and drain without having holes in the floor as my battery goes under the
back seat .or are they ok and dont need to be moved or i dont need to worry about it.:alien |

your battery should not need a drain in the floor. does the battery leak or has it been overfilled with distilled water?
if it doesn't leak then it will be fine, beetle batteries are mounted under the back seat, just make sure it is secured down so that it cant bounce
around. they usually have a strap over them secured to the floor.
see.... air and water do mix

The battery isn't much of a concern from what i have seen. just have that strap tight, and no worries. theres a nice volume of air in there, and its
not exactly air tight, so there can be some movement between all the bits.
But otherwise, its fine to sit in there

Battery
As your car is for off roadand if you intend to use it for this perpose you might want to concider fitting a battery box.
As all the bumps and things will shake the battery around which will lead to spills.
I`m sure some of the offroad guys will show you a few pictures of what they have done.

Or fit an Oddysey battery. They are a dry battery and therefore don't leak.

battery box is a good idea.
or failing that at least a rubber mat inbetween the battery and the seat.
sometimes on early bugs the battery terminals can contact the metal springs in the seats which could create a spark and set alight the fibres in the
backseat.
this is not something you want to happen.
batterys should not leak. unless u are driving a crazy angles in which case the battery box should be sufficient to catch anything

Hi,
I've never had any problems with battery fumes from a Battery under the seat in a Beetle or type 3....
and You do need something loose over the top like a piece of rubber....
as many VWs have caught fire when someone kneels on the back seat to get something out of below the rear window....
You can get clamps that hold Your battery down and stops it from moving... all cars have to have these by law... I always sit My car batteries on a
piece of rubber too...
