Engine Lid with Stand Offs - any stays or springs??

I have My Engine deck lid fitted with alloy Stand Offs
My deck lid stands out approx 70mm

Having to prop up the deck lid with a stick all the time
is driving Me nuts...

Someone out there must have either fitted a gas stay or modified spring to the deck lid

I can only remember seeing sticks holding them up at VW shows...

Anyone....??

Lee

Lee,

I keep an ockie strap in my boot. I hook it from the vents beneath the rear window
to the numberplate light or edge of the deck lid.

You can actually buy a extension plate for standoff springs. Not sure where from but they are in the mags from USA. They do put some stress on the panel they are bolted too though. You can see the panel flex when you open and shut the lid.
This car is David O'Connors and has one. He is sometimes on here. Maybe track him down and ask where its from.

get another spring and cut off the long"tab" bolt it to the long "tab" on your existing spring with a 6 mm bolt.

or

get an old aerial and put it in the hinge bracket hole, when not in use it can be folded up and stuck next to your seat rail
