Check out my Injected rotary Conversion Baja Page
Hey there guys spent the last few nights starting to create a webpage on my 1969 vw baja and the injected rotary conversion which i have just recenly
completed. Site also includes the rebuilding and porting of the engine, along with other modifications made. Any feed back would be apprectiated

good to see another Baja conversion on the road.
I think I saw it down outside of custom offroad one day. I think your waiting for QLD to accept the new mod code so you can make the conversion
legal.
I find it interesting that you were looking for a fuel economic solution and yet still went for the Rotary. How is it on fuel? Normally they're very
bad on fuel.

as for fuel ecomomy it is quiet suprising, This is my daily driver and driving the car subtly with out getting a heavy foot my fuel economy is on a
par with a 2004 toyota corolla, however putting your foot down can see fuel bills rocket up to that of driving a V8. BEing a series 5 injection system
also helps and puts carbied models to shame. The economy lvl is pretty good due to the fact that the microtech computer i am using judges the rate and
harshnes of acceloration and is thus supplies the fuel needed during both light acceloration and for heavy acceloration. Also keeping the revs below
4000Rpm ( using the primary injectors only and not the secondary) while driven daily sees a huge decrease in the fuel bill.
Just an interesting fact - I am now gettin around twice the fuel ecconomy then that of my last vw motor ( worked 1600 dp)

Definately has enough togue to be driven uder 4000Rpm cruises very comfortabley at around 2000 rpm, and is quiet happy to cruise along at 60kmh in
fourth gear at 1850rmp including up most fair sized hills and inclines. Driving a rotary can give the illusion of haveing little bottom end toque due
to the power delivery being so smooth. The Tail of Rotary engines Having no Torgue comes from early carby models ( specially twin distributer models)
having no low down torgue and plenty of top end. However later model engine specification togue ratings are up closer to modern 2.6l piston engines (
close but still less) , I will find the exact torque figures in tonight if i can again but it is somthing like twiced the torgue figure of a standard
1600 dp beetle engine. Anything above 3800 rpm and the secondary injectors kick in providing more Hp than you could poke a stick at.
Also for Baja wes fuel economy for this particular model Rotary engine is supposed to be around the region of 25mpg, But of corse you can wave that
figure good bye when you put your foot into it.
