DIE KDF GESTAPO

If you've got a slammed Rat, Hood, Resto, Rodded or Cal'd early dub - the KDF Gestapo wants you.

We want to bring like minded slammed Dubbers together for cruises, shows, and just general mayhem. Night time trips to KK's a specialty. We are Sydney based, and we are creating a core group of members that adhere to our ride height and dub age philosophy.

Happy cruising...:thumb

KDF Gestapo.

Adam you are out of line bud.

The KDF Gestapo has been bought about due to a lack of any slammed dub cruises in Sydney - none that are broadcast anyway. Quite a few of us have been speaking about this for sometime - and now we're doing something about it.

The Hoodride movement is exactly that - a movement. Not a club as such.

We respect the Hoodride movement, and in turn we feel you should respect what we are trying to do - get like minded people together for cruises and not cause factions which is what comments like yours make.

If you what to talk about immitations - yep - our roots are well and firmly entrenched in the 80's So-Cal scene, in the Hot Rod scene, and in the Resto scene. Everything has it's roots from somewhere - even the Hoodride scene.

Respect.

Dude goodluck. Every time I have tried to encourage people to get together they have piked at the last minute. The cruise I organised in Jan last year was attended by ONE other car. The BBQ I organised a few months back was attended by 3 people (ta, Dave, Dean and Scott) and a whole bunch of others piked (and yes I shower). The problem is not a lack of dubs, it's a lack of commitment. I'd love to come cruising and if people were actually good to their word I'd organise more. So unless you can change the people you'll be pushing it uphill. People talk about wanting a scene but they won't commit to events.

Heed the warning people, stop piking at the last minute coz you "got a better offer". Freakin X generation. :td:

Pete, its not always a better offer. Some of us answer to a higher power or have family or work commitments that clash. I even missed a cruise I tried to organise myself due to a commitment I knew nothing about until after I statred organising the cruise. I missed Nambucca due to work, but I know where I would have preferred to be.

KDF Gestapo, get the cruises happening. I will be sure to come along if I am free on the day.

Wayne, I'm not having a go at people like yourself. I know work and family are important. It's the people who say, "yes yes yes, gunna come for sure", but then don't show and when you ask why they say, "dunno", or "stayed home for a quiet one". Then they whine about a lack of VW drag days or get togethers. If you say your coming, mark it in your diary and then stick to it. If you can't make it, don't say you can. What's so hard about that then?

Ok my rants over now. Good luck Gestapo. I'd advise to include anyoen who wants to come but it's up to you. :blah

It is not my intention to hijack the thread just offer what I hope is good advice.

I run and am involved in a lot of things. Some examples include: Soccer coaching U8's, Scouting as an assistant leader, Karate as a senior student and Geocaching as a event organiser. This is what I have learnt, take it or leave it.

(1) Set the dates of event well in advance and avoid what are traditionally popular weekends at first such as long weekends, school holidays and when huge sporting events are on.

(2) Buy a paper calendar from the newsagent and cross out all the above and hold a small meeting with those interested and plan three or four events per year. Agree on the dates together and set them in stone. If weather is an issue agree on a postphoned date for that event at the same time or a wet weather alternative.

(3) Promote all three / four dates with each event promotion. Promote three moths in advance each time and email and write to clubs / individuals and sponsors individually to remind them 1 month and two weeks before. It is at these time they usually agree to other events and yours is forgotten causing a double booking. If it is in their head for that weekend they are less inclined to accidently double book and feel obligated to go with the later cancelling the long term event.

(4) Make each event individual in it's planning and activity but retain similar times and duration for consistancy. So say Sundays 8am till 11.30 with a morning tea halfway and an optional lunch for late stayers who want to socialise longer. As a group decide on these times and what is going to happen. Explain this in your promotion and the title of the event - Wisemans Cruise, Mountians Run and Western Wander.

http://www.vwnationals2003.orcon.net.nz/images/convoy_2002.jpg

Why do people not turn up when they commit:
We live in a mobile phone age, not a calendar age. People live for the minute and decide usually on the day what they feel like doing. With busy lives, family, work and relationships feeling more demanding and ca,,ing upon you at demand people like to leave themselves open and are on call like it or not. It used to be that you could plan months ahead and your boss couldn't keep your over for the weekend or the wife wouldn't read about the sho sale in the city / or his tool sale in the valley etc.

Provide an itinerary and a mobile number so people can join the cruise and levae the cruise as they want when they want. This way if they have Church, a meeting, work late or miss the start they can meet the rest of the pack a another location at a later stage. It dosen't have to be a mystery.

To summarise:
Choose dates carefully and promote the events well in advance by invitation, email, phone call and in person.
Increase promotion a month and two weeks before hand to avoid double booking
Offer an itinerary with contact details for late comers.

http://www.streeters.org/fotos/estilos/vw/rat/furgo1.jpg

Lastly I suggest you promote your next event at your current event, collect email and phone contact details and even offer a survey to participant to find out when are the best time, dates and location for them. This can be used for the following years events.

Hope this helps. I find it disappointing to read that people have been stood up and their is a percieved lack of interest.

For me. I'm planning to start a season social club for the VW folks of Dubbo. Once a season a get together. Entry into one car show (Winter) and two planned cruises (Spring and Autumn) and one dinner / evening BBQ in a park (in Summer). The VW people here are already heavily into sports, volunteer organisations and work / family committments so my plans will be just an opportunity for them to meet people with a similar car and mabey share an interest, visit somewhere different and socialise. If two cars turn up it's a success.

I'll shut up now.

B.

Thanks to all of those that have expressed an interest and an opinion.

You can all be safely aware that those behind the KDF Gestapo have organised cruises before on this forum. The KDF Gestapo is new - it's just that the people behind it are not.

For those who have raised a query - sorry but this club will be purely for lowered early Dubs only. I can also understand people's frustration when they have been involved in a poorly attended cruise. All I can say is keep the faith. Cruising and getting together is hard sometimes - the important thing is to have a core group of mates with that common interest and belief in making something successful.

KDF Gestapo - Go for it dude, and make sure you U2U people you know with cars you like, and who are nearby, because not everyone reads every thread on here. If others aren't going to organise cruises, then you should, and will. The aussie hoodride site has been a bit slow lately, so anyone who wants to step up and support the scene should be encouraged.

i got this info from here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gestapo  incase anyone is still trying to figure out what all the ho har is about.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gestapo (help·info) (contraction of Geheime Staatspolizei; "Secret State Police") was the official secret police of Nazi Germany. Under the overall administration of the SS, it was administered by the RSHA and was considered a dual organization of the Sicherheitsdienst and also a suboffice of the Sicherheitspolizei.

love The Gestapo was established on April 26, 1933 in Prussia, from the existing organization of the Prussian Secret Police. The Gestapo was first simply a branch of the Prussian Police, known as "Department 1A of the Prussian State Police".

Its first commander was Rudolf Diels who recruited members from professional police departments and ran the Gestapo as a federal police agency, comparable to several modern examples such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the USA. The Gestapo's role as a political police force was only established after Hermann Göring was appointed to succeed Diels as the Gestapo Commander, in 1934. It was Göring who invented the term "Gestapo" (at first called Gestapa), which came from the suggestion of an obscure postal employee who suggested it be called the "Geheime Staatspolizei;" or "Secret State Police." Whence, GESTAPO. Göring urged the Nazi government to expand Gestapo power out of Prussia to encompass all of Germany. To this, Göring was mostly successful except in Bavaria, where Heinrich Himmler (head of the SS), served as the Bavarian Police President and used local SS units as a political police force.

In April of 1934, Göring and Himmler agreed to put aside all differences (due in large part to a combined hatred of the Sturmabteilung) and Göring handed over full command of the Gestapo to the authority of the SS. At that point, the Gestapo was combined into the Sicherheitspolizei and considered a sister organization to the Sicherheitsdienst or SD.

The role of the Gestapo was to investigate and combat "all tendencies dangerous to the State." It had the authority to investigate treason, espionage and sabotage cases, and cases of criminal attacks on the Nazi Party and on Germany.

The law had been changed in such a way that the Gestapo's actions were not subject to judicial review. Nazi jurist Dr. Werner Best stated, "As long as the [Gestapo] ... carries out the will of the leadership, it is acting legally." The Gestapo was specifically exempted from responsibility to administrative courts, where citizens normally could sue the state to conform to laws.

The power of the Gestapo most open to misuse was "Schutzhaft" or "protective custody" — a euphemism for the power to imprison people without judicial proceedings, typically in concentration camps. The person imprisoned even had to sign his or her own Schutzhaftbefehl, the document declaring that the person desired to be imprisoned. Normally this signature was forced by beatings and torture.

Thanks Timmy for the positive vibe.

As Pyr0 has pointed out - the Gestapo was the German Secret Police. The name choice was certainly thought about and researched long and hard to avoid any anti-semitism connections. Anything linked with the SS and Nazi's are what you should be worried about.

The passage below is of interest:-

"In Popular Culture
Sometimes the word Gestapo is used colloquially for other organizations which are felt to be tyrannical. An example is in the book version of the Tron movie, where a character says "This kind of romp is going to annoy the local gestapo."

The Gestapo was parodied in the hit BBC sitcom 'Allo 'Allo!, as stiff-as-board limping characters obsessed with protecting Adolf Hitler from assassination by the German military or resistance. Usually wearing black leather coats and hats, they were often seen cross-dressing. Herr Flick and Herr von Smallhausen were the local agents in the village of Nouvion, obsessed entirely with the German war effort. They were constantly under siege by the French Resistance."

...And this is where we are coming from.....the name is a parody of all things accepted as normal within the VW world. Our Dubs are anti-social, lowered, rats, hoods, not the norm. Some people won't like them, others will.

Most importantly - we are here for our Dubs and for the love of the scene.

Chill.

You have raised a good point thevanman.

Ahem - This is a forum, not the thought police. Sure we have an ethical standpoint but it's not about deleting threads because they are there and have people talking. You want controversy then I'll delete the thread and see what happens.

The Nazi party were all about censorship and propaganda - we have free speech available to us here and deleting discussion is not a productive way to allow people to see both sides of the story and the decisions behind what is being discussed.

I'm a social science / performing arts teacher and for me, I don't agree with the name. I can honestly say it wouldn't be on the back window of my car with it parked in my school car park but who am I to say that there should be no discussion because I don't agree with it. I think people are in general, the layperson will not see any humor and/or irony in the choice of name. Yes Admins and Moderators have posted and if it gets personal and no longer discusses the topic you will see it gone. I'm sure.

These involved will receive a U2U explaining why the thread was deleted. Remember this is a forum but it also needs to remain friendly. It's about striking a balance. If you don't like the topic don't read it. There is plenty to choose from. Me, I stick to the offroad and tech threads.
