air bag struts

hey guys ,,,,i used to have a subaru liberty '91 model and it had air ride struts ,,,,when you started it it used to rise up and when you pushed a button on the dash it would rise up about 2 inchs more for when driving in snow,,,,what would stop you from putting this setup in the later beetles with the strut front ends ,,,admitedly the struts were $600 each, but think about it just standard height then whaen you want to go off road push a button and up she goes 2 inchs higher or more if you could tweak the sensor for more lift ,,,,,,,
