Performane engine builders/suppliers?
I am coming back to OZ after a 15 year stay in the UK. I go into VW's over here and plan to build an oval cal-looker once I get back over.
Where do i start in terms of a recommended engine builder/tuner/dyno and performance parts supplier?
I am looking into a 2276, MSD, rancho pro comp box, CSP discs all round, narrowed+ dropped beam etc etc. Car will be a street car but will also be on
the strip.
Anyone built something similiar to this? How hard (+expensive) would it be to get parts for this together and would I have to ship it all in myself or
is this type of stuff stocked by anyone?
Any help or info greatly appreciated!

might be cheaper to bring back alot of those parts with you. Especially the CSP stuff. That is very exy over here.
There are a number of good tuning houses, but as VW54 said, depends on ya city.

Aiming for NSW so any places there, but would travel or ship to/from other states if the best engine shops were elsewhere. Any recommendations?

How could i find out how much the CSP stuff goes for over there? Who stocks it?

Stan Pobjoy at Coffs Harbour.
Vintage vee dub in Sydney.
as for buying parts, well, it's allways cheaper if you go straight to the source..... having said that, sometimes freight and duties will kill off
that advantage.
i have some berg cranks, carrillos, p & c's and heads if you're interested when you get here:thumb

I have found the Vintage vee dub website, but do Ben Durie or Stan Pobjoy have their own websites? I have heard their names before but dont know much
about them. Do they run engine shops/supply parts/race vw's?
Might well be interested in parts - will give you a shout when i get there!!

There are quite a few good engine builders as mentioned above.
Not many of the shops stock the parts that you want, especially the CSP products.
But they will import the stuff for you with an appropriate mark-up.
While you still have British Pounds in your pockets you could buy that stuff in Europe.
Any of the American stuff will be cheaper too, but shipping to Australia is expensive especially with duties, taxes, and customs clearance.
It may be worthy of investigation, to order the stuff in England and bring it to Aust. with your personal belongings.

That is excellent news! Is it a quarterly mag? Can you get it in newsagents or is it subscrition?
Looked at the website and love the Diamond Green Oval in the current mag!! Bit of a long shot, but does anyone know who owns it? Looks pretty much
bang on what I want to put together!

I have been to a lot of VW shops in Sydney and would say they are all excellent.
When it comes to performance engine building and tuning I would have to most definatley recommend that you take a run out to a shop called Custom Bugs
and Buses.
They run a drag car that is very competitive and have tuned a number of vw race cars on their dyno dynamics dyno.
I first seen the shop out at Penrith at the dyno day they held some 2 years back now I would think, all I can say is what a set up they have.
