searching for a mechanic
I was hoping someone can steer me in the direction of a reliable vw mech in south east melbourne.
I have my 73 micro body and fitout 80% complete , but I have realized that if I have any hope of taking my two kids cruisin at christmas, Id better
hand it over to an expert.
Basically I am after some one who will refit her engine( which I believe is fine) And generally get her running in road worthy order.
I am proud of my bus and what I have done to date with her, but as a humble chippy, I know my limitations.
She is an auto aswell

I can suggest Volkshome in Thomastown. It is North, but a towtruck may only cost $80 or so.
Please expect to be spending $2000 to have it all fitted up, running, checked and allowing for some extra's that will pop up along the way.

It is a hard call. It could cost as little as $300, just being an engine fit that fires straight away. That 20% would only make $1500 total
I just try to be a realist, and have seen too many times where presumably everything is ok, and then some extras come along that creep up on you.
Clutch, pressure plate, rear main seal leaking, carby kits required, dissy requiring overhaul, starter motor, alternator (not too likley), wiring
issues, transmission service, CV joints flogged out, brakes on their last pump, wheel bearings.
So many things that sometimes can only be checked once the assembly is complete.

Having spent the day playing with her, I am wondering whether I can get the donk back in. With the help of a couple of slabs of Carltons finest and
the odd snag, I might get a lending hand. My biggest fear is putting it in and forgetting something . The auto modulator and kickdown switch is a
confusing thing.
Before I dropped the donk, the bus wouldnt change out of First gear.I think.....hope that the modulator hose was missing..
