The Drop Bear has rego!
Please welcome into your community the newly registered 71 Bajabug (pronounced Baha bug) which has been christened...
"The Drop Bear".
At 9.40 this morning the RTA handed over the plates and by 10 I had them on and was cruising the streets. Shame I had to return to work.
At present it is matt, sharkskin grey which is the base coat for things to come but it runs great, looks fantastic and really turns heads. The new
deep throat exhaust just thumps and it has a tonne of bottom end for the offroad chores I have lined up for it.
The Drop Bear was formally known as the "Dog-O-War" for those who remember it but the orange has gone with a bare metal repaint from the ground up.
It will be used daily mostly for work through the week and Geocaching and camping on
the weekends when I'm not at a VW event somewhere.
Briefly I would like to thank off the offroad guys for their advice and the tech heads who helped me nut out some of the mechanical issues that
cropped up during the blue slip.
Cheers guys.
The Bronze and Boys. - Pics to come. Been to busy cruising.

He he - I'm sure it will achieve two out of three. Oh, by the way I'm not a big Bundy Rum fan. I work with a lot of kids and Drop Bear is a much
better name for school kids and scouts than the Dog-O-War. Originally named after a Pink Floyd Song l love.
It started to rain here this afternoon and I thought I had a good chance of having some mud to get bogged in. Unfortunately there was nowhere near
enough to warrant looking for puddles.

High bloody time!!!
Did you end up finding those bits that went missing or did you end up having to replace them?
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

Had a great test run this weekend. 750 kilometer round trip from Dubbo to Newcastle return. Stayed overnight, saw our new niece / cousin and turned
around came home.
Drop Bear the Baja didn't miss a beat the whole trip. Sat comfortably at 100 Km/h where allowed and even enjoyed a blat at 110 on the freeway in the
rain with no probs.
Will post some pics when I get my camera to take some. Wife said something about photo's of the baby being more important. Talk about needing to get
her priorities right.
Stripes-
I have a few ideas. As the point is so rough I'm going to lay down some gloss black off centre strips or stripe up the centre with a matching one
along the sides with a herbie type pattern of the small thin strip aside a wider strip broken with a number dot. As I want four colours, Orange,
Yellow, Blue and Green I'll probably have two smaller with two thicker or a mix of some type. The side stripes may widen towards the rear and angle
up and over the back.
To be honest it could be a completely different idea / look tomorrow as I get more information and see more pics of how other people have done theirs.
This is what I want overall:
* To stand out to other traffic so I don't get T-boned by a provisional who is adjusting fluffy dice.
* To retain the whole 70's race theme and volkswagen style of the era.
* To have four colours either as vynal, painted or even airbrushed on.
I will do some research and use photoshop first to try out some styles and matching colours. My neighbour is an airbrush artist and my wife is a
colour consultant, or at least was.
