Vanagon slider

Well been busy puling panels back into place lately. Here question, is there any difference in sliders from 85-89?
Situation previous owner done damage and well after pulling rear quarter panel back to flat or close enough the door that was goiong on is 85 and it seems to be sitting out too far (no locking gear on it) If I did use 85 mod door this almost gives the impression that the pillar needs pullng as well, because the panel is so close to being straight that it is popping the original OEM spot welds(stitching).

Upgrade for the slider surely even this would not cause the door to be pulled out of plumb to that extent with model variation in mind. to the eye there is nothing out of the ordinary, and to the tape as well. Will get pics so u can see what i mean.
