What type of grease do I use?
I have a 72 super beetle with IRS rear end. I will be fitting new rubbers in to where the swing arms attach to the pan and also for the torsion
tubes. What type of grease/lubricant do I use to fit them and is there anything I need to be aware of when I fit them?
Thanks
Yogie

No grease at all!
All you have to do is make sure the metal of the spring plates' tube section is clean and smooth

Thanks VWCOOL. I thought they squeaked if you didn't lube them with something?

Manual says to use powdered chalk....
on the outer surface to get it in easier....
nothing on the inner turning surface...
I would have thought rubber grease would have been OK
help stop the rubber wearing too...

thats assuming rubber bushes..
if you use nolathane type bushes you need to put plenty of grease otherwise they will squeak
i used moly grease on mine and no noise.

Did you have any problems installing the Nolathane bushes?
Yes, Moly is the BEST in grease.... Only one to use..

Grease attracts dirt which wears the (unsealed) bushes. I have custom-made Noltec bushes in my car - no grease required.

I have rubber bushes for the rear but nylon? ones for the front end. So should I use Moly on the front and just dust the rears?

Yep. The front ones aren't actually bushes, just grease seals
