balljoint frontend on super beetle pan?
was wondering, rather than doing an irs conversion to the back of a swing axle pan (beetle), is it possible to instead add a balljoint frontend to a
super beetle pan?

Yes the americans were selling a bolt on kit, but I haven't seen or heard of it for several years now. The alternative would be to remove the
hammerhead off the sbug pan and weld on the balljoint framehead

I think you can buy new frame heads cheap also.
My drag car has such a conversion.

Jurgo's old car was a super with a beam cut onto it.
B-I-G job - but...............
After market decent pans are hard to find. And good original pans are worth their weight in gold
Unless your super pan is really brilliant - i would restore a 76 pan.

If this is for a road registered car, be careful that the serial number of the pan in on the rear part and the year of the pan and the modification
might cause the dreaded ADRs to rear their ugly heads. If that's relevent, check that before you do anything.

South Africian 1303 Supers with curved windscreen had king pin front ends.... and wide 5 stud wheels....
I have never seen under the bonnet etc to see how it was done....
but its much easier when they are being made from new..
I take it You want a Ball joint torsion bar front end and IRS rear end...
My 1968 Semi Auto has both...
and was made in Western Germany ....

its a much easy job to convert a bj sa to IRS
my 70 beetle has a sqaureback arse end grafted in
much safer to than welding in a whole new bulkhead as all u have to weld in is the trailing arm pivots instead of the entire front od the chassis
76 pans are pretty hard to come by these days
even semi autos arent as common as they once were
Lee theres a bloke i;ve met up in bris a few times that comes to alot of the events that has that green south african bug
there just like a standard bug under the hood cept for the Lbug freshair box under the windscreen

Australia...
