65 T1 beam

hey

I am after some info on what is the best beam to fit
to my 65. Which year model came with the disk brakes and what has to be done to change it all over to fit

also what is the track differance between the two. i have heard that you gain width when you go to a disk front end?

thanks in advance

Only a LP beam will fit.... But you can buy kits or adapt disc brakes to fit your application.... but we need more info.... What rims you want to run, tyre width and how low or high your car is or will be, and finally.... What are you going to use the car for... daily use, drag, circuit, off road.......

Andy you could run dropped spindles which will give you a further 2 1/2 inches of drop - these can be ordered for drum or disk application. IF you want to keep wide 5 AND want to run drop spindles, it WILL increase the track (eg. CB performance, sherman etc).

IF you don't want to increase the track AND you want discs, then the only option is the Vintage Vee Dub Supplies wide 5 kit for which there is a waiting list at the moment (well I have my name down). These however cannot be run with drop spindles.

So it is a case of deciding which way you want to go and what is the higher priority (ie. do you really want discs, do you want to narrow your beam, do you want to just run dropped spindles with drums for the cheapest option etc etc)??

Cheers
Alan

Yeah I agree with Alan... You got a nice bug there... Three notches huh.... Keep an eye on the axle spiggots.... They like to snap when the car is that low.... You should look at a tranny lift to save your axles and transaxle....As Alan suggested, if you want to run the 205PCD with disc brakes you have a few options, but only a couple offer them with drop spindles.... You don't need to run drop spindles, but I would reccomend it... The car will ride a load better and your kidneys will thank you for it!... The trade off is you will widen the track with most of the kits available... CSP is the exception I believe..... The only way around that it is to fit a adjustable, narrowed beam.... Depending on how the beam is narrowed, you can narrow as much as 100mm without body mods.....
