No the 12v discs will not fit the 66 stubs as they are
You can get caliper brackets like, and then get the drums machined for a different bearing cup. Then the 12v ones will fit. 1500 calipers are used with that method.
You can buy new spindles that will give you disc stubs, either lowered or std height.
Dont forget you need to change to a 1500 master cyl also.

Your rear t3 drums will fit if you machine down the snout of them, and use the backing plates and all...

You are going to have the 4 stud pattern too...

these are the caliper brackets

Bushed.

Just done a conversion on the same model I now have the disc brakes off the front og a 69 on the front of my 65.

The photo of the plate above is precisely the one you need. I had two sets made when I did mine and I will sell a set of front plates for what they cost me $120 plus postage if your mate needs a set.

They are originally a John Sherman conversion and they work well. I also have converted my 65 to rear disk using sherman plates and Fiat Mirafiori disc calipers and type 3 rear disk.

He will need to measure the spindle and inside the 69 hub and buy a set of new bearings, otherwise they bolt straight in. No fuss.

Both my cars are so equipped and they stop well, are well balanced, even under the heavist braking. In my 1970 car I am using the dual circuit master cylinder and in the 65 I am using the single circuit master cylinder. Both are fine for the job.

I can send you photos if you need them. Send me your e mail.

regards

Make sure that EVERYTHING already there is in good nik: 30 year old brakes shoes might be a bit dodgy by now, and are they adjusted correctly? etc

You can make these old drums just about good enough to race on with good shoes, machining and cylinders

i agree with the factory 1300 drums being as good.
the only difference with drums, especially with a 1300cc engine, is that you need to adjust them.
I am sure if you fitted NEW shoes and good machined or new drums, and radiused the shoes etc, that they will stop plenty well enough for you.

The 1500 disc conversion is certainly the cheapest way out of it for disc brake kits...
