02m/Ford bellhousing
Hello guys,
I would like to mate a Ford Focus engine (2.0 Zetec) to an Audi/VW 02M 6 speed gearbox. Adapter plate seems like the easiest option here, so my
question is what's the best way to go about it? I understand the holes and dowels have to be incredibly accurate so what is the safest way to measure
them?

ok
if the holes work out so you can plot them out on a mill with X Y Z your in luck .
if they dont
work off the center of each item
1 ) the motor .
It has a center bearing in the crank , you need a shaft that fits in that , some thing of quality .um lets say a front strut from a car ( good
thinking seagull ) , cut the shaft out & get one end machined so it fits the center bearing .
2) you need the bolts that fit in to the motor housing machined to a point facing out .
3) you need the plate you are going to make the adapter plate out of with a hole the same size ( od ) of the strut ( shaft )
4) slide the plate down the shaft & with a hamer tap around were the points are note they all need to be the same lenth from the back of the motor (
face )
you have now marked the motor side .
gear box is the same , you may need a sleve for the gearbox shaft
or now place it on a face plate in a lathe & clock off the center hole .in doing this machine a step that the plate will sit in the gear box , remove
from the lathe tap in to the gear box bolt the motor up so the gear box is in the correct position & mark the holes with a scribe ( fine point marker
)
remove & drill the holes
fly wheel will do your head in its all measuring
Mark fill in your location so we know were you are
