Audi Info??

I`m looking at buying a late 90`s Audi A4 or maybe A3 to use as my daily hack. Does anyone here know much about this late watercooled VW/Audi stuff??
Will probably be a 1.8 T or 20v SE A4 with around 120,000-150,000kms.
What do I look for?? Are they any good or would I be better buying a Bogan Tractor (Commodore)?????
HELP!
Graham.

Graham,

To look at an Audi is not considering the dark side - a Falcommodore is! Bear in mind a Passat is an A4 with a different body - the same applies to the A3 and the Golf. So the vehicle size is your first decision.

I have driven various Audis for almost 15 years. They are well-built, reliable vehicles. Yes, they can cost more to maintain but if you are buying a decent european car, they all cost more than a '67 beetle to run.

I would suggest that you try http://www.ozaudi.com/nuke/modules.php?name=Forums  and ask away.

Please note that, like all vehicles, not all Audi drivers look after their vehicles - then repair bills can skyrocket. It is better to find a good car than to buy cheap and pay for the repairs.
There are a number of Audi owners in Adelaide who will point you in the right direction for most repairs.

Here is picture of mine.

regards and good luck

Rob

Thanks for the help Rob. I`ll check out the website!
Theres a forum for everything these days hey!
I was behind an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro the other day, lowered an stuff, looked great.
Still got my Splitty and Oval to work on and then eventually drive on weekends though.
Cheers
Graham.

Graham,

Good luck with the search - just make sure you have a reputable Audi technician check the car thoroughly. It may cost about $100 but it is well worth it if they find the car is a cow.

Our car is the 'Sunday' car - my daily driver is below.

regards

Rob
