36IDF's are IDF carbs with 36mm throats (not chokes/venturi's) i think they came on some alfa's.
i'm not that knowledgeable on webbers but i think they might have slightly different internal circutry (sp) than 40/44/48IDF's.

There is a Haines or chiltons manual on how to rebuild most Webber/Dellorto carbies, it also has how to fit to a beetle motor instructions.

I just brought a pair of 36IDF's for a 1600. Previously I've only used 48IDA's and 44IDF's on larger motors.
I've completely stripped the 36's so as to tell the differences between these and the larger IDF's.
The 36's have a 40mm bore with a 36mm plate. The idle circuit is slightly different in that the idle jets are accessible from the top of the carb and not the side. Other than that their very similar to other IDF's. Just smaller that all.
By the way their not in the CB Weber Tech Manual, in fact I've got three different Weber books and their not listed in any of them.
